A FEW FROM THE ARCHIVES:

Hi. It's Thursday, September 24th. On this day in 1996, the United States, represented by President Clinton and other world nuclear powers, signed a treaty to end all testing and development of nuclear weapons. Aren't you tired of all the bickering and the fighting? As John and Yoko said, "Let's give peace a chance. " What can you do today, to give peace a chance?

Hi, it's Wednesday, September 23rd. Day 195 of my COVID lockdown. Do you know one of the positive things of this whole thing is that I've gotten to spend more time with my two brothers and their wives. Today is the milestone birthday of my sister-in-law, Janet. One of the kindest, most generous people I've ever met in my life. Today's assignment: Give TSP ™ to one of your in-laws.

Hi, it's Tuesday, September 22nd, the first day of Autumn. We New Englanders love Autumn: the leaves get really really rich with color and they're filled with light. Kind of the way many people do as they grow old. Here is your assignment today: Find someone who is growing old- enjoy their color, enjoy their light, and learn something from them.

Hi. It’s Monday, September 21st. On this date, 123 years ago, the New York Sun gave us the words to live by, today:  "Yes ,Virginia there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist. And you know, that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas, how dreary would be in the world if there was no Santa Claus. Don’t you agree?

Hi, it’s Friday, September 18th. On this date 50 years ago, Jimi Hendrix died. Hendrix said, "music is a safe kind of high." Hi. It is Thursday, September 17th. The 100th anniversary of the NFL. Now, I know lots of us have complained about the NFL in the past, the way they handled things, especially here in New England. But, don’t you think that the way that the players started the season this year was really good- the way they linked arms and supported one another? Martin Luther King Junior says "We are tied together by a single garment of destiny, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality." What can we do to link arms -metaphorically -as we go forward today?

On this day in 1814, Francis Scott Key wrote the Star-Spangled Banner and I have to admit at any event they play the Star-Spangled Banner, I stand up and I wail and I often get emotional. And you know, I think that’s the beauty of patriotism. It means something different to everybody because after all, we are ...(singing) "The land of the free...."
What does patriotism mean to you?

Hi. It's Friday, September 11th.  Whoa- hard to believe that 9/11 was 19 years ago today. There’s a great show on Broadway called Come From Away about 911 and there’s a lyric that says, "Something in the middle of nowhere. in the middle of clear blue air, you found your heart, but left a part, of you, behind." It’s another tough time now.  Find your heart.
